In Honor Of: The 4th of July

“There are those who will say that the liberation of humanity, the freedom of man and mind is nothing but a dream. They are right. It is the American Dream." -Archibald MacLeish

4th of July, also known as Independence Day is commonly celebrated throughout America.  We have barbecues, pop fireworks, and drink with friends and family every year on this day, although many Americans have no clue about the history of the 4th. The American holiday is commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence which is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. It announced that the thirteen American colonies, then at war with Great Britain, were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. The 4th of July has become a favorite amongst the American holidays and will most likely remain so for decades to come.

HAPPY 4th of JULY!
