20 Universal Guilty Pleasures

As long as the world exists there will be a few things that we don't want anyone to find out that we like, love, or participate in when no one is looking. Some of these things only apply to men, women, or both. This list of 20 things, which by the way aren't so bad when you really think about it, are things that people in general don't like to admit that they engage in. These are just a few that I came up with that I'm sure most of you will agree with. Enjoy...

20. Erotic kissing- Men generally ACT like they don't like to kiss but actually, most guys love it. No need to hide this guilty pleasure. We women LOVE this one too. :D

19. Latin Men- I think it's safe to say that most sistas wouldn't mind letting a muy caliente latin man set them on fire. Kind of our hidden fantasy If I may. To the sistas, these men are the equivalent to some brothas and their love for the White woman. See #9

18. Puppies & Kittens- Now we all know that these little furry things are undeniably cute and irresistible but for some reason, men don't like to admit this. That's like not admitting that Idris Elba or Beyonce is sexy. If you deny it then you lie!

17. Soap Operas-These addictive daily shows have a stigma of only being watched by older overweight ladies that do nothing but stay at home all day. I'll tell you one thing, I like them and I know several guys that like them, and watch them. Word to my college classmate Chris C. for putting me up on Passions ( My Fav Soap that went off the air in 2007) Whyyyyyy???

16. The gray area between cheating and not-This really needs no explanation. Bottom line...Some people like to play with fire. Just make sure you don't get burned.

15. Chick TV shows-Sex & The City, Friends, Gossip girl, etc. It's not very manly to admit that you know who Carrie Bradshaw met at Club Whatever and hooked up with on the umpteenth episode of S&TC, but surprisingly these types of shows have a decent amount of male viewers. They just keep it secret.

14. Texting/Tweeting/FB'ing at church-We love to do this but we know we shouldn't, so we don't admit that we do. That is all.

Question: Is Love A Losing Game?

The troubled singer Amy Winehouse said it in her song titled Love is a Losing Game but I wonder if that is true.  I guess it could be thought of that way when you look at the fact that statistically it seems to support the theory.  My thoughts however is that if you face losing a game of love then you have to look at the positives and negatives of the entire thing and weigh them to see if it was worth it. You may not be compatible with the guy/girl you love and therefore it may not work out but in the end you may gain an awesome friend. That is worth it in my book. I think that if you gain either a great friend, some very valuable knowledge of the dating game, or a better idea of the person who you are or the person who you want to be with, then the entire experience is worth it. What do you guys think?

Is love a losing game?

I'm Just Sayin: What's up with guys re-asking for the number?

All of us females get this.  You're at the grocery store or maybe the gas station and you run into a guy who you used to talk to a year or so ago.  You make small talk.  You go through the how have you beens and what's new drill.

The Rules Of Playing Dating Games

Ok, so in my post on last Tuesday I asked the question, "When are we too old for dating games?" Thanks for all of your comments letting me know what you guys thought on the matter O_o Anywho, I think that when you play this game there are certain rules that should be applied so that we play fair. Because all IS fair in Love & Basketball. Ummm wait...off subject. Anyway, I have come up with a list of rules that we should all abide by in this crazy game if we are sleeping with each other, and here goes...

Question: When Are We Too Old For Dating Games?

When it comes to dating, men and women have been playing games for ages. One would think that by the time you reached your mid twenties playing games would be childs play, something reserved for teens and those alike. Wrong! It is still very much a part of the dating game and sometimes you have to wonder if it isn't even more prevalent as we get older.

Question: Has America Been Desensitized When It Comes To SEX?

After watching the most recent MTV movie awards and seeing Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson pull a repeat of Brittany Spears and Madonnas 2003 kiss, I started thinking about how within the last few decades certain things that used to be considered taboo is now becoming the norm. I remember when it was impossible for me to keep my eyes pasted on the television if two women were kissing. Now I just look and feel nothing. I think it's safe to say that America has been desensitized by books, music, television, the media, and etc to view sexual prowess as normal. Even Samantha from Sex & The City's sexual openness is envied by many and the fact is, America hasn't been this open about the subject since, well....EVER.

Women: How to Naturally Boost Your Sex Drive

There are a variety of reasons why a woman's sex drive can go down the toilet.  If you are one of these women, you're probably thinking something like, "Maybe I'm just not very sexual anymore," or "Maybe my age is catching up with me."  Maybe, but probably not.  Physical problems, hormone changes, psychological problems and relationship issues can all be a factors.  Here are some natural treatments and changes worth trying.

Sexual Health: HPV

Have you ever been in the shower and suddenly noticed a bump on your pubic area, just to find out that you have been exposed to HPV? Told that you have abnormal cells and forced to have them frozen off in fear that they will become cancerous? Well you are not alone. About 20 million people in the U.S. have been exposed to the virus. What is HPV? It stands for Human Papilloma Virus.

Too Sexy in the Workplace?

Last week, Debrahlee Lorenzana made headlines when her employer, a Citibank branch in New York fired her for allegedly being too good looking. Her bosses disagree, blaming her work performance on the split. Now I’ve seen my share of sexy guys at work, but I think termination is a pretty extreme punishment, especially for something that you have to half way blame (and thank) your parents for.

Sports: The Underdog

Ok, so I know what some of you guys are thinking, "What does SHE know about sports?"  Well...I know a little something, but I'm not here to act like I'm a sports fanatic because I'm definitely not.  I do however appreciate the sport of basketball, probably because my Dad used to play in college and I remember attending a few of his alumni games as a toddler. I remember asking my Mother why his shorts were so short, but that's another story.

When She Says This...

Ever wonder what's going on inside a woman's head when she rejects you? Well I can clue you in to some extent but I won't give away all of our secrets. Sometimes when ladies tell you these things they actually mean what they say, but a lot of times they don't. Here goes some facts of the game that tells you...

What she REALLY means when she says…

Why Are Black Men Constantly Bashing Black Women?

First let me say that ALL Black men are definitely NOT bashing Black women. This topic came to mind during a long and boring work day when I decided to hop on Twitter for a while to see what was going on. I was minding my business and tweeting with friends when the barely relevant Houston rapper Slim Thug started talking crazy about Black women. In a nut shell he thinks that 'Black women need to stand by their man more' (I figure he thinks that the former Destinys Child singer Toya should have stood by him even though he knocked some other woman up.) B.S. if I ever did see it. Anywho, he influenced this whole trending topic ideal that people ran with that went something like, "My White side enrolled in college but my Black side only shows up for the tests." (among other variations) Although I know these jokes were all in fun, and I have to admit that some of them were kind of funny, I didn't like the whole idea of it.

The 6 Different Types of Guys

During my 27 years, I’ve ran into a lot of different types of guys. I know you’re probably thinking something like, well all guys are different. This is true, but if I had to characterize a large portion of them, I could pretty much throw them all into these 6 groups. He doesn’t have to only belong to one of these groups however, he can be a combo. You know what they say…variety is the spice of America.

Some Friday Linkage

Since today is Friday we decided to post some of our favorite websites. I'm a big fan of online shopping so I'll start with a few of my (and my friends) favorite online stores. Also I tend to be bored at work quite frequently so I've slowly but surely found some great sites to keep me busy all day at work and I'll share them with my fellow BAWP. (bored at work people)

Does It Still Exist: Common Courtesy?

I don't know about you guys but I think that with chivalry and manners, common courtesy too has been tossed out the window. I'm sure that it has been proven somewhere that a mans nature is shaped by the men that were in his life as a child and that the expectations that a woman places for a man she desires are too. Common courtesy is something that SHOULD be common among people but has slowly faded away.

I'm Just Saying: Types Of Guys I'd Like To Date...

Out of the several guys I've dated, there's still some genres of the male dating pool that I have yet to cross. I'm sure that I'm not the only person that has sat down and thought about different types of guys/girls I want to 'try' out. Male Perspective: 6 things that can make HER sexual experience mind-blowing

As an experienced man in my late twenties I have learned a few tricks in my day. I may not be able to cook well, and I may be a little too arrogant at times, but I know how to please a woman. As a young man I didn't always know what exactly would 'do it' for each woman. I thought that I could do the same thing to each one and they would be equally pleased. I was wrong. Different women like different things, and it's our jobs to figure out what those things are. My first real girlfriend clued me in on this as I tried to make her 'finish' to no avail. That's when she broke it down to me, and after our break up I took her advice and learned that she was on to something. Here goes...

6 Things That Make Attractive Women Less Attractive to Men

If a man is attracted to you, there is no reason why he wouldn't step up to you and ask for your number right?  Wrong!  It's true that men are visual creatures and they will overlook quite a lot for a hot face or bod, but there are exceptions.  I've thought about typical reasons why a man may pass on a physically attractive woman, and choose her not-as-attractive friend.

Question: When Does Picky Become Superficial?

I often wonder when it comes to men, when does deal-breakers go from practical to just too darn picky. I was once turned off by a guy because I didn't like the way his fingers looked. It sounds ridiculous now thinking back on it, but trust me, if you had seen them you would understand. Thinking back on this guy made me think of an old episode of Girlfriends. On this particular one, the main character Joan was turned off by T.C. from Passions her man of the moment because he had hips so therefore wore a girdle. As I watched that episode I could almost understand her feelings. The thought of seeing my man in a girdle, which is expected to be for women, would definitely turn me off.

Cultural Spotlight: Conversations of the Heart: Letters Between Young Black Men and Women

This is the first of many Cultural Spotlights we will feature.  We here at PMC believe that positive efforts such as expression through literature and art, specifically in the black community should be recognized.  Natelege Whaley, a 21-year-old native of Brooklyn, New York and senior at Howard University, is curating a book of poems, songs, letters, raps, artwork and photography from people of color, ages 18-25, showing the generation’s thoughts about the opposite sex in friendship, dating, relationships and more.

I'm Just Saying: Controversially Speaking...Brothas Dating 'Becky'

I know you all have heard the endless complaints about Black men preferring White women. Frankly I think it's time to accept the reality that every brotha is not going to go for the sistas. Something very enlightening dawned on me the other day. Maybe it's environmental. Think about it...

The show is centered around four single women living and dating in NYC.

5 Reasons Why Bleach Is Awesome

The Japanese anime cartoon written and illustrated by Tite Kubo has become very popular in the U.S. within the last few years. From being used as inspiration for cosplay, to being dubbed all over the Internet, it has truly become an underground phenomenon. You can find the original Japanese version with subtext, or the English version easily on the net, and can also watch several of the seasons in English on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. If you are more into reading they also have manga books which are like a Japanese version of a comic book. There are many reasons why I think the show is awesome but I'll name just a few...

1. It’s a great concept-Who doesn't like complicated story lines, and this one is just that. The show follows the main character Ichigo Kurosaki and his accidental becoming of a Soul Reaper-a Japanese death personification similar to the Grim Reaper.

The Friend Zone-How Did I Get Here?

We've all been there...

You're really really feeling this guy (or girl). You like the way he smiles, the way he dresses, the way he smells, you even like the way he talks. Maybe you see him all the time at your gym, or maybe at work. Eventually, fueled by the stares that you shoot his way when you think he's not looking, he asks for your number. You two talk on the phone for a week or so and he seems pretty cool. Now it's time for the first date. You're on for dinner, a movie, or that local poetry spot that's hot. The date is over and he drops you off at your house. Before leaving, he gives you a hug and tells you he will call you tomorrow. You guys go out a few more times. He's really feeling you, but somewhere in between dinner and the movies, he fell into the dreaded...FRIEND ZONE.

4 Simple Ways To Meet Ms. Right

Ok Guys, we weren't trying to leave you out with our article called 10 Places To Meet Mr. Right, but the truth of the matter is that it's much more simple for you, unless of course you are facially challenged, then you may want to rely on your wit and charm. Nonetheless, you can literally walk outside your apartment and a great and available woman will likely be around.  I thought about four normal everyday things that you can do to meet Ms. Right that doesn't include stepping foot in a club.  Believe me, you guys don't HAVE to do much of anything to meet her, now it's keeping her that's the challenge. That's when you have to work at it.

1. Go to work-Lots of women work, and unless you have an uber manly job then there will probably be countless single women there ready and willing to date you.

2. Go to the grocery store-I can't stress enough how men can follow their normal routine and still find a good woman. Self-explanatory.

As I opened the door to enter the Beauty Shop, I realized something. People STILL pay to get jheri curls.

Why YOU Shouldn’t Just Brush Off Men Of Other Races

Written by: Ms Candy

When it comes to interracial dating, lets be real. Black men are having their cake and eating it too. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the truth is that they are getting their swirl on while the sistas are staying loyal to the brothas. I’ll take a chance and say that men of color are probably the most open to dating outside of their race. Hey, who needs statistics?

Top 10 Places To Meet Mr. Right

Written by TheOpinionated1 & Ms Candy

1. WORK- Depending on the job, work can be a great place to find a potential mate. Jobs such as call centers, hospitals, or basically any place with a large quantity of people are ideal. Now, it’s up to you to choose wisely. For example if you work at a hospital we’re talking about the doctors not the patients or if you work at a prison let’s date the guards not the inmates. You don’t want to jeopardize your job over someone that’s off limits. But hey the great thing about dating in the workplace is that you know he does have a job. WARNING: Be careful though because if it goes sour your relationship may not be the only thing that suffers, your job/work reputation may be put on the line.

2. SCHOOL- Whether you’re in high school or college, school is swarming with men. Not only are these men most likely unmarried, but they are educated and on every campus corner. So next time you are contemplating skipping school you may want to remember that while you’re getting your education you could also be having a ‘special’ study session with that handsome David from biology 101.

PROVERBIAL MIND CANDY
