Top 10 Places To Meet Mr. Right

Written by TheOpinionated1 & Ms Candy

1. WORK- Depending on the job, work can be a great place to find a potential mate. Jobs such as call centers, hospitals, or basically any place with a large quantity of people are ideal. Now, it’s up to you to choose wisely. For example if you work at a hospital we’re talking about the doctors not the patients or if you work at a prison let’s date the guards not the inmates. You don’t want to jeopardize your job over someone that’s off limits. But hey the great thing about dating in the workplace is that you know he does have a job. WARNING: Be careful though because if it goes sour your relationship may not be the only thing that suffers, your job/work reputation may be put on the line.

2. SCHOOL- Whether you’re in high school or college, school is swarming with men. Not only are these men most likely unmarried, but they are educated and on every campus corner. So next time you are contemplating skipping school you may want to remember that while you’re getting your education you could also be having a ‘special’ study session with that handsome David from biology 101.

3. CHURCH- Church is always a great place to look for love because at least you know the brotha is religious, isn’t that what every woman has on her list of goals? Sure it’s about a ¼ ratio of men to women in the church and about ½ of those men are married but it’s still worth a try. Don’t forget that you can always visit other churches and many of them hold functions for singles interested in meeting other single church-goers.

4.CHARITY EVENTS- Charitable events being held in your town are men magnets. Well I guess it kind of depends on the type of man you are seeking, but most likely you’ll find professionals or men that are trying to make a difference in the community. You may even catch a local celebrity or just a regular guy that just happened to end up there. By the way, if you’re looking for a thug…ditch the charity event for your local car show.

5. LOUNGE SPOT- Your local poetry, neo-soul, or jazz spot is a good place to snag Mr. Right. Unlike clubs or bars these types of places are more laid back with smaller crowds. Men will less likely be there collecting several women’s phone numbers and trying to get Leslie back home for a one night stand. I mean…he can’t understand the poetry if he’s falling over drunk right?

6. SPORTS BAR- Of course this is the obvious choice. Why? Because men love sports, the problem is you have to find the right bar. You don’t want to be looking for Hakeem and end up at the place where Billy Ray and the guys hang out. With this one you have to do a little research and ask around and I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised. By the way you may want to make sure he isn’t more into his sports than you…If his team loses make sure you don’t too.

7. RESTAURANTS- There are countless eligible bachelors hanging out at restaurants. Understand that he may not have a woman to cook for him on a regular basis. If he doesn’t have the skills in the kitchen and he’s feening for some of Moms home cooking, a restaurant may be just what he needs until he finds you. What better place to meet a single man than a spot where he’s probably doing what he loves second most (If you get my drift) …eating. Hey, a brotha gotta eat.

8. GROCERY STORE- Now I know I just mentioned this, but men love to eat. You can definitely find a single man at the grocery store because even if he goes to restaurants on a regular basis he will eventually get tired of going out and paying, and lets face it…cooking is cheaper. Anyway, he’ll have to pick some items up some time or another for the empty refrigerator and when he does you’ll be there to suggest that steak and potatoes with an extra side of YOU!

9. A DIFFERENT STATE- There are great men all over your state but the problem is…you’ve already dated him. A different state is crawling with available men you and your friends haven’t had. That makes your options much wider than before. James may have dated Lisa, her cousin, and her best friend but since you’re not from there, he’s an option. Imagine the possibilities.

10. INTERNET DATING WEBSITES- Despite being coined as a desperate or last resort way to find a mate, the internet is quickly becoming an easy and convenient way to find love. It’s like having a resume posted online seeking a job but instead you’d be seeking love. Instead of leaving your home on a rainy day, try getting on social networks such as Myspace or Blackplanet and having a cyber date. We have all heard the horror stories of people posting old pictures from years ago or pictures of someone else on their web pages but hey…that’s why you meet in a neutral place so that you can run for the hills if necessary. The saying is true…desperate times calls for desperate measures.

*HONORABLE MENTION- Electronic stores and your local Home Improvement stores

These places are worth a try, but the most important thing is to put yourself out there. If you don’t see people you can never meet anyone new. So next time a friend asks you to come to their church or to a charitable event, why not, you may just find your Mr. Right.
